Despite some resistance to the implementation of COVID-19 related regulations, we are pleased to report that we have noticed most residents are successfully and cheerfully adhering to our requests.
We would like to thank you all, as this has contributed towards successfully protecting our community.
Caister Lodge has had 2 employees and 1 private carer who have been infected with the COVID-19 virus. Each case has been risk-assessed and managed accordingly. To prevent unnecessary concern, only the residents who were at any way directly involved were informed and dealt with according to our protocols. The POP! (Protection of Personal Information) Act prohibits us from divulging any personal information, therefore we need to act appropriately.
We have been audited by the Department of Health who are satisfied that all our interventions were appropriate based on the situation. We were able to prove that we are monitoring resident’s movements, as well as restricting movements during high-risk situations as is required by law. Furthermore, the Department of Health were satisfied that we are managing our staff movement and compliance appropriately.
We would like to remind all residents and staff that the restrictions at Caister Lodge are dynamic, and will change based on changing situations and the results of risk assessments that are applied to each new challenge we face.
The current LOCKDOWN at Caister Lodge will be re-assessed next week after the 10 day quarantine period is over.
Due to the COVID-19 LOCKDOWN and the restrictions of gatherings of more than 50 persons being prohibited, the 2020 AGM will not be held in August this year. As soon as the restrictions in respect of the size of gatherings is lifted by government, the board will set a date for the 2020 AGM.
Cuppa for Cancer tea was organized by Cynthia J ones on Thursday the 30th July to raise funds for CANSA. A competition was held for the “Best Hat” worn and Jean Deeley won first prize of a magnificent hamper sponsored by Monica Horner of Diverse Distributors CC. An amount of R1 400.00 was raised, thank you to all who donated to this worthy cause.
The July Sweepstake Draw was held on Friday the 24 July and the following residents took home the cash after the July Handicap was run :-
- 1st Belgarion-Tony van der Merwe - R300.00
- 2nd Got the green light-Judy Edgar - R200.00
- 3rd Do it again-Dot Munro - R100 00
- 4th Golden Ducat-Maureen Carr - R50.00
R50.00 was donated to “Cuppa for Cancer”
Staff are noticing that residents are still keeping Caister crockery, teapots, milk jugs and glassware in their apartments. Residents are urged to please return same to the dining room.
