As per the notice re the relaxing of the Caister’s COVID Lockdown Protocols with effect from Friday the 12th February 2021, residents are reminded of the following:-

1.Visitors are allowed during morning tea (a maximum of two visitors per resident) on the veranda or in the lounge. 2.Residents may leave the premises to attend to their personal shopping needs, going to the hairdresser, beauty parlour etc. 3.Residents who choose to leave the premises overnight are strongly encouraged to self-isolate on their return. The onus is on the resident to self-isolate, social distance and avoid contact with other persons as it is their responsibility not to infect their fellow resident. 4.Tracking and Tracing needs to be recorded when residents exit the premises.

Joy Zungu (Sous Chef) will be leaving Caister Lodge on Friday the 26th February 2021for greener pastures and we wish her well. Joy has been an inspiration in the Caister kitchen over the last four years and applied her talents and innovative ideas in keeping a very high standard in respect of the daily meals produced for residents.

Apologies for the digging up of the front garden due to the maintenance of sewage pipes that needed to be replaced. The contractors have advised that the front garden will be available for use again on Wednesday the 3rd March 2021, weather permitting.

The weekly Beach outing commenced on Thursday the 25th February 2021 with only 8 persons allowed in the bus at any one time. The list will be put on the board on Monday mornings for residents to place their names on the list to be included in the excursion.

In respect of the use of the swimming pool, residents are expected to practice safe distancing at all times. The onus is on the resident to be responsible for their actions by practicing social distancing.

Garden staff do not work for Caister so please do not give them instructions. If you have any suggestions in respect of the garden, please do so via the resident’s house committee in writing.

The pilot program mentioned in last month’s Newsletter to keep family members of residents informed via social media of the current lockdown situation at Caister Lodge was delayed due to a system malfunction and will be up and running with effect from Monday the 1st March 2021.

Although we have had some good summer rains we should still use water sparingly, as we have a long winter ahead to consider. Please see below the current dam levels that feed the greater Durban area:-

    Albert Falls Dam 34.50%
    Midmar Dam 96.60%
    Inanda Dam 81.44%
    Hazelmere Dam 55.49%
