The KZN Cornea & Eye Association will be doing an awareness talk on the donation of tissue for the purposes of transplantation at 09:30 am on Thursday the 5th June in the lounge.

As the current supply of flu vaccines is greatly reduced, we are not able to arrange for a service provider to vaccinate residents on site. The clinic therefore urges all residents to communicate with their individual pharmacies regarding the availability of flu vaccines and to take advantage of having the flu vaccine, if it is available. Residents are also welcome to order vaccines through their pharmacies and have them delivered to the clinic. We will gladly assist with administering of the vaccine at no charge.

We remind all residents to report to the clinic if you are ill and require a tray service to your apartment. If we are not aware that you are incapacitated, you will be charged the full tray service fee.

Please ensure that you familiarize yourself with the clinic service times and associated charges – see notice board for the updated clinic service schedule.

The prices of all the beverages in the bar will be adjusted by the amount of coupons required with effect from the 1st June 2025 to accommodate the price increase effected on the 1st March this year.

Residents who take their fruit out of the dining room at breakfast time are advised to please do so before 08:30 am, as leaving the fruit on the table is attracting the monkeys who are accessing the dining room and consuming same on the tables and creating an unhygienic mess.

Residents who smoke are reminded that they may do so in their apartments and the designated smoking area behind the clinic and not in the common areas of Caister Lodge.

As the Caister’s laundry prices have not been reviewed for over three years, an adjustment had to be made and will be adjusted with effect from the 1st June 2025 to cover the increased cost of labour and chemicals. Please enquire at reception what the amended costs will be.

The summer rains have ensured that the dams that feed the greater Durban area are at capacity as can be seen in the list below. Notwithstanding the above, please continue to use this resource sparingly as the rising cost thereof is placing a huge burden on the Caister’s expenses.

Albert Falls Dam – 100.41% Midmar Dam – 99.32% Inanda Dam – 101.62% Hazelmere Dam – 101.95%
