The constant false alarms in respect of the Fire Alarm system has been caused by a faulty sensor picking up the excess steam when a shower is being used. This has since been rectified. Residents are requested not to touch the Red Fire Boxes attached to the walls throughout the Caister as this is for emergency purposes only and does not switch off the fire alarm system.

The clinic management would like to remind all residents as per clause 22 of the “Use Agreement”, that residents are discouraged from having meals in their apartments unless medically indisposed, and on the advice of the Medical Services Manager. During our COVID restrictions, adherence to this regulation was waived as residents were at times mandated to eat in their apartments.

However, we are now moving forward, and residents are encouraged to dine in the dining room at least once a day. This gives all residents an opportunity to enjoy some social interaction, as well as to ensure that our residents are eating at least one nutritionally complete meal per day. The mental and physical health benefits of socially interactive dining were made only too clear when COVID restricted us from these pleasures, and many of our residents suffered bouts of loneliness and depression.

The clinic management would also like to inform residents that due to our suppliers having increased the costs of our incontinent products, we will be increasing our prices accordingly. This increase was effective from the 1st May 2022, however we will only be implementing this increase from the 1st August 2022 as we still had stock purchased prior to the suppliers increase.

Any resident wishing to access anything from behind the reception desk are to please request same from the receptionist or management and not take it upon themselves to access this area.

During the last month the maintenance staff have been replacing all the broken window panes in the passages of the Hotel Block. Newly replaced panes of glass have already been broken from people placing crockery on the window sills. Please refrain from this destructive practice and advise the reception when you require the equipment from your room service trays to be collected as previously communicated.

Residents are once again requested to please switch off air-conditioners, heaters, lights etc when the apartments are not in use as it is an unnecessary waste of electricity. Please note that the above request is important as the current electricity tariffs have increased resulting in a 17,07% jump in this monthly overhead cost.

Please continue to use water sparingly and not waste this resource unnecessarily and consider the high cost thereof. Below is the current data of the dam levels that feed the greater Durban area;

    Albert Falls Dam              97.08%
    Midmar Dam              96.23%
    Inanda Dam                    101.46%
    Hazelmere Dam               48.57%
