Eric Canham will once again be performing in the Caister Lounge on Wednesday the 31 st May 2023 from 6.00 pm to 8.00pm. As this is a fundraiser for local artists to be exposed to the international market, donations will be gratefully accepted.

As the amended schedule of Load Shedding is placing an even greater demand on the Caister’s finances due to the increased cost and consumption of diesel, not to mention the increased maintenance cost due to more frequent services. Once again, I appeal to residents to be mindful of electricity consumption as this has a material effect of the running costs of Caister Lodge.

Residents are reminded of the rules in respect of the removal of any foodstuffs from the dining room, lounge and verandah. The rules are very clear that only one fruit per person may be removed at breakfast time and Sunday night dinners may be collected in containers and taken to your apartment. All other food orders from the kitchen/dining room is to be placed with the receptionist to be delivered to your apartment by a room service waiter.

Sister Karen advises that as winter approaches, residents are reminded to please be aware of their flu symptoms. Should you experience spates of coughing and a runny nose, please discard your used tissues in the bins provided. Please also respect your fellow diners and remember your cough etiquette and cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or handkerchief when you sneeze or cough.

During these cold weeks ahead, please ensure that you are taking in enough fluids. It is a lot more difficult to maintain hydration when everything is so chilly. Many residents turn heaters on which dry out the air, thus adding to poor levels of hydration.

Thank you to all the residents who keep an eye out for their neighbours. Your discreet observations that are directed to the medical staff assist us greatly. Your care and concerns has not gone unnoticed.

Claudia Flack will be available to offer massages to the residents on Thursday the 8th June 2023 from 08.00 am till 12.00 noon. Residents who would like an appointment with Claudia can contact Caroline Jankovich on 083 4900 9630 to make arrangements for an appointment.

On recent travels we came across a very interesting restaurant in Gordon Road called “Doughed” which specializes in pizzas in a style as prepared in Naples, Italy. It’s worth a try.

Awnings on the exterior of apartments belong to the specific units and the maintenance thereof is the responsibility of the shareholder. Quotes have been requested to refurbish the awnings in poor repair and same will be communicated to the respective shareholders.

The ongoing rise in the cost of water is also having an effect on the current overhead structure of Caister Lodge and residents are urged to please use this resource sparingly.
