Thank you to all the residents who participated in the Fire Drill on Friday morning the 21st of October. As part of the above initiative re the health and safety of all residents, management would like to encourage the smokers at Caister Lodge to please use the designated smoking area near the clinic instead of smoking in their apartments.

From the 1st November 2022 DSG Security will take over the security duties at Caister Lodge. DSG Security will also provide a streamlined process for visitors and contractors entering and exiting the Caister. Residents are requested to please provide the following details of their regular visitors to the reception and discs will be produced for that purpose. Visitor details required:- Visitor’s name Person and apartment visiting Vehicle registration number

As part of the Caister’s House Rules, the laundry of personal clothing is to be done in the apartments, the laundromat or sent to the Caister’s laundry and be charged per item. Staff members are not to be requested to assist with these tasks as they are employed by the company and cannot accommodate any private work while on duty at Caister. This includes tea and meal breaks.

Residents are once again urged to be mindful of the peak hours in respect of electricity consumption as well as during load shedding as the high cost of diesel is placing a strain on these overhead costs. With ongoing requests to amend the dress code at Caister Lodge, the board has agreed to allow men to wear shorts after 4.00 pm in the public areas. Regrettably, the wearing of slops and t-shirts are still not allowed in the public areas as per the house rules.

The department of health has placed a hold on Covid booster vaccinations, as the current manufactured stock has expired, and the production of new vaccines has not yet commenced. If you have received an automated sms, please do not be concerned. As soon as stock is available, the clinic will inform all the residents and staff. As per previous vaccinations, the clinic will arrange for Covid boosters to be administered on site.

As from the 1st November 2022, the tray charge for room service will be R12.00 per tray unless the resident is otherwise indisposed, then the charge will be R6.00 per tray. Those residents who are indisposed and unable to have their meals in the dining room will need confirmation thereof from Sister Karen Breetzke. A reminder to all shareholders that the AGM will be held in the lounge at 10.00 am on Thursday the 1st December 2022.

Once again I would like to appeal to all residents to please return all crockery, cutlery and glassware belonging to the company, as this equipment is vital to provide the correct service to all residents. Although we are entering the rainy season, please continue to use water sparingly and preserve this important resource. Please see below the levels of the dams that feed the greater Durban area.
