The winners of the third Quarterly Quiz for 2025 was a tie between the “Know Alls” – Louis Simon, Megan Caminsky, Lee Duke and Basil Duke – and the “Hopefuls” – Barry Hatch, Pauline Hatch, Ann DelVecchio and Don Webster – with 16 points each. Sadly, the “Hopefuls’” answers were incorrectly marked and they ended up in second place.

The frequent airing of sports events on TV on Saturday evenings has precipitated a decision to screen movies on Sunday evenings instead, as well as Wednesday evenings, and the music appreciation evenings will now be moved to Monday nights. The above changes will come into effect from the beginning of August.

We welcome the following residents to Caister Lodge and hope their stay here will be a long and happy one: Shirley Power-Wilson – Unit 67 Vivienne Stiller – Unit 134

The “Guess Who” competition held during the month of July got many residents gathering around the notice board trying to guess the names. Four winners guessed all the names correctly – well done! The four winners were Rose de Abreu, Barbara Ramsay, Rosie Lea and Don Webster. Many thanks to Barry Hatch for the sponsoring of one of the winners’ prizes.

The House Committee are collecting gently used clothes and unused toiletries to donate to the Issy Geshen Lamont Home. Please see the notice board for more information regarding the donations requested.

Residents who have pictures that are no longer in use and would like to donate them to Caister to be placed in the passageways and common areas are to please leave same at reception.

The Caister bus will be available to take residents to La Lucia Mall at 09:00 am on the last Wednesday of every month and return at 11:00 am. This service will only be available as long as there is a minimum of three persons being transported.

The Caister bus is available for residents to be transported to Mount Edgecombe to attend Probus on the first Monday of every month. The bus will leave Caister at 09:15 am and residents will be picked up from Mount Edgecombe at 11:00 am. This service will only be available as long as there is a minimum of three persons being transported.

Residents are reminded to be mindful of the use of water and electricity and use same sparingly. Please see below the levels of the dams that feed the greater Durban area:

  • Albert Falls Dam: 99.00%
  • Midmar Dam: 97.58%
  • Inanda Dam: 101.25%
  • Hazelmere Dam: 101.77%
